Nightlife

Nightlife in Krabi cannot rival Phuket for variety and is altogether quieter and more relaxed.

Klong Muang beach offers a small choice of Restaurants serving quality fresh Thai food.

If you are looking for a lively night out Ao Nang is just 15 minutes away by bus or taxi where you can find a huge variety of restaurants, bars and pubs, some with live Thai shows or live music.

A little further away (25 minutes) is Krabi Town catering mainly to locals offering some good restaurants, some good pubs with live music and even a couple of Disco's.

National Park Tours

The huge limestones outcrops at sea and on land have created natural sanctuaries for wildlife of all kinds. Sightings of Sea Eagles and hornbills are common, wild bore, deer even Asian Bears and Tigers can be seen by dedicated wildlife seekers prepared to venture deep into the more remote areas of Jungle.

To protect these areas Krabi has some of the best national parks in Thailand.

Khao Sok National Park

A huge area of natural rain forest. Trips to the park vary from day trips to several days trekking through the park and sleeping in tents. The park is home to a large variety of birds and mammals and some spectacular scenery.

Than Bokkhorani

A short trip from Klong Muang Featuring natural springs, limestone cliffs and ponds where wild Monkeys often come and play.

Had Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park

Covers the coastal area from fossil shell beach to Klong muang and Koh Phi Phi. Most of the interesting areas of this park have to be visited by boat. Local Tour agents offer many interesting trips.

Pa Tung Tieo National Park

South of Krabi it is one of only two remaining areas of natural lowland rain forest in Thailand. A 3 Km trail runs through part of the park to a crystal clear emerald green pond where many birds and wildlife may be seen.

Diving and Snorkeling Adventures

Krabi has several international standard diving schools offering everything from beginners half day "try Diving" to advanced diver training, PADI instructor courses and specialist cave diving instruction.

The best Diving and snorkeling in Krabi in the Koh Phi Phi area. Day trips can be arranged through local Dive shops and tour agents. Some of the best sites include: Maya Bay, shark point, King cruser wreck and Hin Dang.

You can also snorkel on inshore shallow coral reefs with almost any of the boat trips available in Krabi and most boats carry snorkeling equipment.

Island Hopping Tours

Island Hopping is one of the most popular and enjoyable things to do in Krabi. Krabi"s coastline is dotted with hundreds of islands and offers many way to get to them.

Take a Traditional "Longtail Boats" just meters from the resort's beach Restaurant. It's just 15 minutes to Koh Hong, considered one of the most beautiful islands in Thailand. Then carry on and visit some of the many deserted islands of Pang Nga Bay.

Rock Climbing Expeditions

Krabi's limestone cliffs are heaven for rock climbers. Local Climbing tours are available to suit all ability levels. Some climbs even start and end from a boat.

Fishing Trips

Fishing trips can be arranged with local fishermen who's local knowledge almost guarantee's fish. One of the best area's for reef fishing is the deep water of Koh Hong just 15 Minutes from the resort.

Game fishing can be arranged from Krabi town. Catches include Sailfish, Wahoo, Dolphin Fish (Mahi Mahi ), Tuna, King Mackerel and more.

Bird Watching Delights

With all the natural untouched areas in Krabi it is a great place for Birders. Serious trips with knowledgeable guides are available. But a tremendous variety of birds can be seen while making other trips. Horn Bills, Sea Eagles, are guaranteed to be seen on Koh Hong. You could just sit in the resort garden and watch collared Kingfisher's. Special guides are available to see the rare Gurnies Pitta, expect to commit 3 days of you stay and some 4 am starts.

Sea Kayaking

Visit the islands (hongs) by Sea Canoe. Many of the islands are hollow and the only way to get inside is though hidden tidal cave entrances in a canoe. Once inside you can enjoy the towering limestone cliffs and untouched nature.

Golf

Krabi has one 9 hole Golf Course situated a few kilometers outside Krabi town, run by the electric generating board. Unlike Resort Golf Clubs, the Krabi course is a Local's Club with it's own special tropical character. The clubhouse is delightful, you feel like you have gone back to colonial times. Basic yes - but you feel welcome and relaxed the moment you walk in. The course is challenging and well set out, so give it a try.

Car and Motorbike Hire

Renting a car or motorbike and touring yourself, is one of the most enjoyable ways to see Thailand. Car and Motorbike hire is available through the Resort or from local agents at reasonable rates. We can also arrange for a rental car to be waiting at the airport when you arrive.

Busses and Taxi's

Busses in Klong Muang are sporadic at present but a regular service is expected to be operational by November 2004. Taxi's service however is available 24 hours. Once in Ao Nang or Krabi town it is easy to travel by bus, Minibus or Taxi to your chosen location.

Other things to do

There are an amazing number of things to do and places to go in Krabi and surrounding provinces. My wife (Oay) and I ( Mark) frequently go out looking for interesting trips to do. Most are off the beaten track, hotels in the jungle with rooms that look like a boat or a train, jungle trips by 4-wheel drive to see a waterfall. We are always available to pass on this information and make your trip as complete and enjoyable as we can (unless we are on one of our trips).
